Cottage food label requirements in Oklahoma
The short version
A label on food made in a home kitchen in Oklahoma carries six things wherever you are: what it is, everything in it heaviest first, the major allergens, who made it, how to reach you, and the date. On top of that comes the wording below.

What the label has to say

This product was produced in a private residence that is exempt from government licensing and inspection.
This is published as fixed text, so reproduce it exactly rather than rewording it. It has to appear at 10 point type or larger, which is part of the requirement rather than a design choice.

- If a third-party vendor (retail or grocery store, farm, farm stand, farmers market, buying club, craft fair, flea market) resells the product, that vendor must display a placard reading: "This product was produced in a private residence that is exempt from government licensing and inspection. This product may contain allergens."
- Legacy provision 2 O.S. § 5-4.4, still on the books after the 2021 rewrite, tells a home food establishment selling prepared food to affix: "Made in a home food establishment that is not licensed by the State Department of Health." in at least 10-point type in a color contrasting the background.
The detail
Homemade Food Freedom Act, 2 O.S. § 5-4.1 et seq., effective Nov 1 2021. No license, no inspection, no registration required. Label must also carry producer name and phone, the physical address where the product was produced, a description of the product, ingredients in descending order of proportion, and an allergen statement covering the eight major allergens. Since HB 2975 (2024) a producer may pay $15/yr for an ODAFF registration number and print that INSTEAD of name/address/phone. Gross sales cap is $75,000/yr per ODAFF. Time/temperature-controlled items require food safety training first and must be sold and delivered by the producer directly to the consumer. No seafood, meat, or poultry. § 5-4.6 restricts counties from imposing their own impediments, which is why enforcement stays at ODAFF.
